Although I am nervous about being a transfer student in a new environment with a pandemic, I am excited to learn more about the various software and programs we will be using, including Photoshop. 

I am from Eastern Pennsylvania, now living in the Scranton area. I am majoring in Film and Media, and enjoy watching and studying all forms of art and entertainment. 

What I expect to gain from this class are better understandings of how to use new programs and technology to further my creative goals and visions, as well as learn to work with others who share my interests.

Portfolio

For my final portfolio, I wanted to construct mine in a book or magazine format. I wanted to design the project in this way that way I can store it on a bookshelf and have it look natural rather than a series of horizontally printed pages. I wanted to keep the black and white theme to give a uniform sense to the print, like a screenplay. With that in mind, I also used the Courier font typeface to keep the theme. However, to add my own personality to the front and back covers, I chose to include my signature rather than just my typed name. For the format of the pages, I chose to dedicate one page for each project to also include the conceptual sketches, original images, and the thought process leading into every project. Another unique piece that I added to the portfolio was on my first project, where I included text that meant to be in memory of David Prowse, the bodybuilder who wore the Darth Vader suit in the original Star Wars  film trilogy. Black and White to Color

 The image I chose to use for this project was from Halloween 2019, where I painted my face and wore clothes to look like a protestor from the movie Joker . In the photo, I had just gotten back from a party and was feeling exhausted, and had begun peeling the paint from my face. The reason why the paint was peeling was that I had used acrylic paints, which aren't healthy to put on faces, but I was broke and in art school so I used what I had. I felt like this photo captured me in a way that not a whole lot of images can, with me trying to be humorous but not afraid to allow the faults show.
