Portfolio - Updated

 For my final portfolio, I wanted to construct mine in a book or magazine format. I wanted to design the project in this way that way I can store it on a bookshelf and have it look natural rather than a series of horizontally printed pages. I wanted to keep the black and white theme to give a uniform sense to the print, like a screenplay. With that in mind, I also used the Courier font typeface to keep the theme. However, to add my own personality to the front and back covers, I chose to include my signature rather than just my typed name. For the format of the pages, I chose to dedicate one page for each project to also include the conceptual sketches, original images, and the thought process leading into every project. Another unique piece that I added to the portfolio was on my first project, where I included text that meant to be in memory of David Prowse, the bodybuilder who wore the Darth Vader suit in the original  Star Wars  film trilogy. Digital Media, Blog #4 - Adobe Illustrator Tutorials

Tutorial 1 This first video I checked out is an over three-hour-long course to the Adobe Illustrator program. Although I did not watch the entire video for time, I did find a lot of the information and techniques interesting in how the various tools of the application are used. The tools shown at the beginning of the video include how to use basic squares and rectangles and how to manipulate their fill-colors, size, and corner/curve styles. Using this tool, it also possible to create circles, which are convenient and easy to remember. The beginning of this tutorial also shows how to create smaller arched lines, and then how to manipulate their line thickness, arch degree, and how to curve the ends of the lines to create an arch with no corners. Digital Media, Blog #3 - Canvas Project

  For when brainstorming this project, I wanted to create something I like a lot that way I could get myself really into the project. I knew I didn't want to create human faces with canvas, but I thought about simpler designs such as cartoons. I decided to focus this project on the Star Wars antagonist character, Darth Vader, as I really like the unique design with both series of quadrilaterals as well as curved edges. At first, I wanted to create a more accurate real-life representation of the character's costume, but I decided to take liberties and create a cartoonish design, similar to an Art Deco.  After creating the look for the face with the simplistic shapes, I knew this was the route I wanted to go.  Below is my original drawing along with all of the photos I used for reference and style inspiration.
